2015
This year has had some highs and lows. It has been exciting and also scary. For me this year has meant a new place and a new ministry opportunity. As we look ahead at 2015 I wanted to share with you what will be our focus in the youth ministry. Our theme verse for the year will be Luke 11:10 which states “For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks. the door will be opened” The verse and the first half of the chapter talks about prayer and seeking after God. I want that to be our goal for our students that they would have a vibrant prayer life and seek God through His word.
Now we will focus specifically on the upward development this year but that wont mean the other areas will be neglected. When we go to God and knock (do the things we are suppose to do) we grow inwardly and that pours out outwardly. We will focus on prayer and following God by introducing different ways to pray so it isn’t as intimidating. We will also focus on seeking after God by helping the students develop a habit of reading God’s word. I have some short devotions that we will do as a group through text messages.
Parents one of the greatest things you can do to foster this in your child is to pray and have a devotional time with them. You can model these things and this will have the greatest impact and you will be following God’s word found in Deuteronomy 6:4-9. If you want some family devotions or any help starting this habit I would love to help you.
In Christ,
Pastor Jon
